IITA is an international non profit research for development organization created in 1967 to develop agricultural solutions and tackle hunger and poverty by reducing producer and consumer risks. The following position is vacant in IITA:
COMPUTER PROGRAMMER/ANALYST(2 YEAR RENEWABLE CONTRACT)
Responsibilities:
Analyse, design and install software packages, applications and databases
Design and implement ad-hoc solutions to meet immediate user needs
Evaluate specific vendor-supplied software and propose changes required to suit the needs of the institute
Implement data structure and databases according to agreed specifications
Code and test run in house developed applications
Deploy fully tested applications in the production environment
Document the system and writer user manuals for the end users
Provide trainings and support to the end users to enable them work fairly independently on their own
Build sub systems around vendor supplied packages to handle aspects of the institute’s information needs which are incorporated in such proprietary products
Requirements:
BSC in computer science or related IT discipline with at least 5 years hands on experience in robust computer applications programming and system analysis with emphasis on business and management systems
Programming experience on web based tools, ASP, Asp.NET, ASP.NET.MVC, javascript, oracle, ajax application tools is important
Experience in rational database systems: oracle 11g, sql server 2005/2008 is preferred
Experience on using modern server operating system such as Microsoft windows server 2003/2008 and UNIX will be a plus
Excellent communication skills and high level of intelligence
