MEDICAL RESEARCH COUNCIL UNIT, THE GAMBIA VACANCIES

The MRC unit, The Gambia is the medical research largest establishment conducting laboratory, field based and clinical research in the developing country. The aim is to improve the health of people in developing countries by contributing to the development, testing and safe adoption of interventions aimed at reducing the burden of morbidity and mortality from infectious diseases

1. RESEARCH CLINICIANS/PAEDIATRICIANS

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

-          Work on a trial to evaluate the safety, tolerability and immunogenicity of a multi dose vial for MDV PCV13

 

REQUIREMENTS:

- MBBS OR EQUIVALENT MEDICAL QUALIFICATION with practical experience of health research in developing countries

- FWACP part 1 or equivalent

- Excellent written and spoken English, record keeping, communication and supervising skills

- Experience in conducting clinical trials

- Experience of staff management

- Flexible and well organized approach to work and ability to meet deadlines

- Attentiveness to details

- Excellent organizational skills

- Willingness to work flexi time and be on the on call roll

- proven experience of managing staff

- Ability to work well in a multi disciplinary team

- Willingness to be on call and work outside the normal working hours

- Record of publications in peer reviewed journals

- Computer skills

 

 

THE SALARY WILL BE IN OCCUPATIONAL GROUP E1/E2 AT A MINIMUM TOTAL SALARY PACKAGE OF E1 565,328 –774,118 DALASIS PER ANNUM AFTER TAX AND. THIS CONVERTS TO $18,844 TO 25,806 AND E2 IS 789,111 TO 997,956 DALASIS AFTER TAX CONVERTS TO $26,303 – 33,265 PER ANNUM AFTER TAX USING THE CURRENT EXCHANGE RATE
