DEVELOPMENT SECTOR CAREER OPPORTUNITES

A national not for profit, nongovernmental organization is about to implement a community owned power project in a targeted community in the Niger Delta

The project is expected to last for 2 years and successful candidates for all positions should be prepared to assume duties as soon as possible after the offer of appointment

 

  1. PROJECT MANAGER

Under the direct supervision of the MD

RESPONSIBILITIES

-          Responsible for the management and coordination of all project activities

-          Responsible for the implementation of project activities and daily management of the project office and personnel in line with agreed workplan and budget

-          Ensure the project produces the expected results to the required standard of quality and within the specific constraints of time and cost

-          Maintain effective communication with both the representative of the external project partners and the MD providing them with regular implementation updates as may be required

-          Budget tracking and M&E of field activities in line with agreed plans

-          Coordinate activities with stakeholders particularly the community, project consultants/contractors and relevant government agencies

-          Support the external project partners as they apply appropriate procedures that ensure accountability, transparency and competitiveness in the procurement and contracting aspects of the project

-          Ensure strict adherence to the projects health, safety an environment procedures

REQUIREMENTS

-          First degree in social science or other related fields

-          Masters degree is a plus

-          At least 10 years experience in relevant areas with at least 5 years experience in the design, implementation and management of development projects

-          Experience in the Niger Delta is preferred

-          Proficiency in MS office tools and other software

-          Proactive, team oriented with strong leadership and management skills

-          Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

-          Ready to travel in the Niger Delta

-          Experience in managing donor funded projects is required

  1. FIELD OFFICERS

RESPONSIBILITIES

-          Overall responsibility of the MD

-          Direct supervision of the project manager, the field officers will be responsible for the implementation and coordination of the activities of different components of the project at the community level

-          Support the project manager in formulating strategies for achieving results for the different components as outlined in project workplan

-          Implement and monitor relevant component plans and activities following project implementation and M&E plans in line with good practices that will ensure suitability

-          Establish close working relationships with all relevant stakeholders of the project especially the target community

-          Engage with all relevant stakeholders particularly the community and relevant government agencies and regularly provide accurate information that will guide appropriate management decisions towards the achievement of project objectives

-          Contribute to the adherences of all HSE guidelines

REQUIREMENTS

-          First degree in social science or other related fields

-          At least 5 years related experience with proven experience of strong negotiation and relationship building skills

-          Proficiency in MS office tools and other software

-          Proactive, team oriented with strong leadership and management skills

-          Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

-          Ready to travel in the Niger Delta

-          Experience working with donor agencies is a plus

-          Willingness to operate from a community setting/office is essential
