MEDICAL RESEARCH COUNCIL UNIT, THE GAMBIA VACANCIES
The MRC unit, The Gambia is the medical research largest establishment conducting laboratory, field based and clinical research in the developing country. The aim is to improve the health of people in developing countries by contributing to the development, testing and safe adoption of interventions aimed at reducing the burden of morbidity and mortality from infectious diseases

1. JUNIOR PAEDIATRIC ONSULTANT
RESPONSIBILITIES
- To support the head of clinical services at MRC Fajara
- Clinical services department comprises a busy 42 bed ward, outpatients department, Gate clinic, X ray department and routine diagnostic laboratories
REQUIREMENTS:
- MBBS OR EQUIVALENT MEDICAL QUALIFICATION with at least 3 years post graduate experience working as a senior registrar/junior consultant level in pediatrics medicine in high quality teaching institutions
- FWACP part 2 or equivalent
- Excellent written and spoken English, record keeping, communication and supervising skills
- Knowledge of medical audits and basic computer skills
- Ability to deal sensitively with patients and ability to work well in a multi disciplinary team
- Willingness to work flexi time and be on the on call roll
- proven experience of managing staff
- Ability to work well in a multi disciplinary team
- Interest in clinical research into the diseases of the tropics
THE SALARY WILL BE IN OCCUPATIONAL GROUP E3 AT A MINIMUM TOTAL SALARY PACKAGE OF 1,012,875 – 1,221,739 DALASIS PER ANNUM AFTER TAX AND. THIS CONVERTS TO $33,762 – 40, 725 PER ANNUM AFTER TAX USING THE CURRENT EXCHANGE RATE
