FINCA International is looking for a Chief Operating Officer (COO), which grows in dynamic environments to be part of the creation and management of a microfinance bank FINCA regulated startups in Owerri, Nigeria.

The COO will be responsible for the strategic direction and daily management of the business function and growth of the company in line with the business strategy, mission and vision of FINCA, and the industry best practices (especially in regard to the protection of the client). This includes leading design and development of products, market intelligence translation business strategy, management and development of the frontal FINCA employees, and ensure that the activities of the team support business and social objectives financial company, optimizes awareness in target segments FINCA, and focuses on customer service as a critical business value. As a key member of the start-up team, the COO will be responsible for establishing the function of the company (including policies and procedures) and ensure that the activities and strategies of the mission of the company Department support FINCA with minimum risk and maximum efficiency. As a member of the Board, he / she shares responsibility for the overall performance and activities of the FINCA subsidiary, and contributes significantly to the formation of the business strategy.

Qualifications and experience:

Degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Business or related discipline (Masters Degree is preferred)
Minimum 4 years experience in a financial institution which directly manages the operational results of a large branch or a region or leading a national operation. Preference for such an experience in a regulated financial institution and in areas related to the mobilization of deposits and loans to micro-enterprise or SME level. Very beneficial if the candidate has an expanding financial services experience in a start-up scenario.
Experience in the development and implementation of growth plans of the company for financial institutions
Experience in managing and motivating staff
The international experience desirable, exposure in the African region and Nigeria an asset

A thorough knowledge of the business and operational risk of a financial institution is essential
Mastery of MS Office (especially Excel), and known in the banking software base (FLEXCUBE retail experience is an advantage)
Fluency in English is essential, fluency in another language or local Igbo desired
